Play-N-Skillz Interview, Coming Home Dance Remix

Whether you realize it or not you have heard a few tunes produced by Play-N-Skillz. These cats are Grammy winners after all. Recently I had the chance to get in their ears a bit about some tough subjects such as production equipment, sneakers, etc. Check out the interview below.

1. What was the first piece of gear you guys used to make a beat? Don't front. The very first, no matter how cheesy or corny it sounded. Mine was a Casio Rapman! OUR FIRST PIECE OF GEAR WAS A DR 202 DRUM MACHINE.

2. What was the first joint you guys produced that you ended up hearing on the radio, and what were you doing when you heard it?

OUR FIRST JOINT ON THE RADIO WAS A REMIX TO AN AALIYAH AND TIMBALAND RECORD WE DID AND WE WERE STILL IN OUR POPS CAR GETTING DRIVEN TO A STUDIO CUZ WE WERE TOO YOUNG TO DRIVE

3. Who was the first artist you worked with that really came as a surprise? Either because of who they were, outside of your typical sound, etc. THE FIRST ARTIST WE WORKED WITH THAT CAME AS A SURPRISE WAS BUN B BECAUSE HES A LIVING LEGEND AND SECOND HE WAS PERSONALLY PART OUR FAVORITE GROUP OF ALL TIME UGK WHO WE GREW UP TOO AND HE WAS THE MOST HUMBLE AND INTELLIGENT ARTIST EVER AND AT THE TIME WE HAD NO HITS UNDER OUR BELT AND HE WANTED US TO PRODUCE FOR HIM AND TREATED US WITH THE HOSPITATLITY OF WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE AN A-LIST PRODUCER FROM TRAVEL TO FOOD AND TO JUST LETTING US BE AS CREATIVE AS WE WANTED TO BE..BUN IS AND WAS TRULY A BLESSING AND WE HAVE REMAINED GREAT FRIENDS AND STILL WORK TOGETHER

4. What was the last piece of gear you bought? I know a lot of our readers are big into producing.

OUR LAST PIECE OF GEAR WAS LOGIC BECUASE IT JUST BASICALLY MADE OUR WHOLE SETUP EASIER NO MORE HARDWARE AND CARRYING KEYBOARDS AND MPCS AROUND NOW ITS ALL ONE LAPTOP

5. Last but not least, what is your favorite pair of sneakers either in your closet or the ones you are still trying to hunt down?

MY FAVORITE PAIR OF SNEAKERS WOULD BE ONE OUR OWN PAIR THAT WE DESIGNED CALLED "L'S UP" BUT THEY NEVER CAME OUT IN THE STATES DUE TO A BAD BUSINESS DEAL IN JAPAN AND VERY FEW WERE RELEASED THERE AND WE HAPPENED TO GET ONE OF THE FIRST PROTOTYPES THAT WE KEPT AND THEY STILL LOOK SICK AS HELL AND I CAN GUARANTEE TO ALL THE SNEAKERHEADS IN THE STATES THAT THAT'S ONE PAIR OF SNEAKS THAT WE ARE UP ON
